You have probably noticed that language course descriptions usually include an addition such as A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, or C2. These indicate the language level that is to be achieved in a course. They originate from the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The CEFR allows you to assess your own language skills based on descriptions of the five language competencies

  • Listening comprehension
  • Reading comprehension
  • Spoken interaction
  • Spoken production
  • Writing

and thus receive assistance in selecting a course.
